President Trump has nominated Memphis attorney John Ryder to the TVA Board of Directors.
Should he be confirmed by the U.S. Senate, Ryder would fill the last vacancy on TVA’s nine-member board. Trump nominated Skip Thompson of Decatur, AL; A.D. Frazier of Blue Ridge, GA; Jeff Smith of Oak Ridge, TN and Kentuckian Kenny Allen to the TVA panel last year; the four won Senate confirmation in late December and have been sworn into office.
Ryder’s nomination won praise from U.S. Sens. Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker, both R-TN. Ryder served general counsel at the Republican National Committee from 2013-17.
