TVPPA Labs
TVPPA Correspondence programs require completion of coordinating lab sessions. Lab sessions offered are listed below.

Course Descriptions:

Lineworker Climbing Lab A
This five-day lab session covers lineworker skills including: climbing techniques, inspection of PPE, fitting of tools and safety equipment, basic knots, pole top rescue, application of armor rods, straight and side ties, and hanging of crossarms.

Lineworker Construction Lab B
This five-day lab session covers lineworker skills including: personal tools and equipment, constructing three-phease lines, sagging techniques, installation of armor rods, single side ties, performance of lock ties, pole top rescue, three-phase grounding, installing and refusing single-phase transformer, splicing and terminating underground cables, rigging and underground distribution systems.

Lineworker Operations Lab C
This five-day lab session covers lineworker skills including: transformer three-phase wye and delta connections, PPE, line regulators, capacitor banks, oil circuit reclosers, bucket truck rescue and work, substations, grounding procedures, pole change and transfers, and troublesooting and precautionary techniques.

Protective Relaying Lab
Required lab: Protective Relaying correspondence program. This 5-day lab covers the following: AC theory, inductive reactance, capacitive reactance, power factor, vecros, calculating settings, testing relays, plotting impedance cricles, construction and theory.

Substation Maintenance Introductory Lab A
Required course: Substation Maintnenance correspondence program. This three-day course includes: DC and AC circuits, electrical measurements and equipment, polyphase vectors, power, phase sequence, three phase connections and other exercises.

Substation Maintenance Advanced Lab B
Required course: Substation Maintenance correspondence program. This five-day course includes insulation resistance tests, power factor tests, dielectric strength tests, transformers and transformer testing, circuit breakers and tests, betteries, lightening arrestors, substation maintenance safety, substation drawings and other exercises.
