Decosta Jenkins, president/CEO at Nashville, TN, ES, will serve as chair-elect of the American Public Power Association (APPA) for the next year.

Jenkins was so elected at APPA’s Annual Conference, held in mid-June at New Orleans, LA. He’s joined on the APPA Board of Directors by Todd Gale, general manager at Columbus, MS, L & W.

APPA’s members elected Coleman Smoak, general manager at Piedmont Municipal Power Agency in Greer, SC, to serve as chairman for the next 12 months.

Jenkins is a former TVPPA vice chairman, having so served from 2009 to 2011, and currently chairs the TVPPA/TVA Customer Planning Council. He earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Tennessee, then joined Nashville ES in 1991 as vice president for Planning/Budget/Finance. He was promoted to senior vice president/chief financial officer in 2000, then named president/CEO in 2004.

Gale took over at Columbus L & W in 2005, succeeding the retired Fred Hayslett. He joined the TVPPA Board of Directors at this year’s Annual Conference, and serves on the Government Relations and Fiber Deployment advisory groups as well. Gale is also a former Mississippi District chairman.
