Key Requirements:
The System Protection Control Craftsman Trainee position is NOT an apprenticeship position. This is an Advanced Trainee position requiring journeyman level technician experience, performing preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on electrical and electronic equipment. The System Protection Control Craftsman Trainee completes a training program that orients them to the specific electrical equipment and systems utilized in the Bonneville Power Administration.

The agency is also announcing positions at the Journeyman level as System Protection Control Craftsman I under Vacancy Announcement # 6719-09-DE "You must submit separate and complete application packages for each announcement for which you would like to be considered."

JOB SUMMARY
The System Protection Control Craftsman Trainee (SPC Craftsman Trainee) 5 through 10 works under the direct supervision of a System Protection Control Craftsman or a System Protection Control Engineer. As a trainee, the incumbent performs a variety of tasks designed to provide experience which will enhance the trainee's technical understanding and skill in the use of the tools and equipment of the work. The System Protection Control Craftsman Trainee performs all duties in compliance with government regulations, BPA safety rules, and the BPA-CPTC Collective Agreement.

The SPC Craftsman Trainee, under direct supervision, performs preventive and corrective maintenance on protective relays, revenue meters, telemetering schemes, substation control systems, and various kinds of substation monitoring equipment.

  1. Uses test equipment to determine response of meters, relays, telemetering and other equipment. Follows accepted procedures to install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment.
  2. Arranges equipment outages with Operations and customer utilities.
  3. Prepares data reports and keeps incidental records pertinent to the tests performed.
  4. Uses technical documentation for maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
  5. Collects, scales, and annotates power system event and fault records.
  6. Keeps test equipment in good safe working order.
  7. Performs miscellaneous duties related to the maintenance of the power system.

The Craftsman Trainee completes a training program that orients them to the specific electrical equipment and systems utilized in the Bonneville Power Administration.
  • Specialized Experience may be substituted by or combining education completed with experience gained. Acceptable education for substitution is: associate degree in electrical or electronic engineering technology, military electrical/electronics training schools, electrical or electronic technical/trade school, electrical/electronic technical or correspondence training, on-the-job training, or successful completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship or meter relaying apprenticeship.

(06/11/09) Vice President Safety & Loss Control — The Electric Power Associations of Mississippi (Statewide) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Vice President, Safety & Loss Control, when the current VP retires. This transition period should take 18 24 months for completion. The position reports directly to the Statewide CEO.

SUMMARY
Plan, direct & control, program, budget and personnel of the Safety & Loss Control Department. Provide administration to self funded workers compensation group that is operated through the Statewide.
This position requires extensive travel, both within Mississippi and into other states. Night and weekend work is sometimes required. Individual must be able to respond to emergency work 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

DUTIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: responsible for overall direction of Safety & Loss Control department. Must plan and coordinate planning seminars such as Basic Lineman Training School, Advanced Lineman Training school, Safety Coordinator Conference, Staking Schools, National Electrical Safety Code seminars and any other training seminars as needed. Review and direct monthly system safety meeting schedules. Responsible for acquisition and coordination of emergency assistance in time of disasters. Must work with system personnel to provide safety & training programs that contribute to a safe work environment and more efficient performance by employees on the job. Maintain an excellent working relationship with OSHA and other State regulatory agencies and other Statewide Associations. Review workers compensation claims and work with 3rd party administrator (Federated Rural Electric Insurance Exchange) to fairly and efficiently close out workers compensation claims. Must maintain good working relationship with Mississippi Workers Compensation Commission personnel, including Commissioners and Self Insurance Director.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise 3 safety & loss control instructors and 1 maintenance person.

SKILLS
Must have excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills. Must be able to communicate, both written and verbally, and speak to groups as well as make reports to Statewide Board of Directors. Must be able to work with others and accomplish tasks within a team environment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in loss control, safety, industrial technology or a technically related field preferred. Certified Safety Professional or Certified Loss Control Professional certification preferred. Must be familiar with electrical distribution safety requirements, OSHA, NESC, and other regulatory compliance areas. Must be proficient in computer skills Microsoft Power Point, Word, etc.

SALARY
Salary range $90,000 - $110,000 annually commensurate with experience.

LOCATION
Must be within commuting distance of the Statewide office building located in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

We currently have an immediate opening in Chattanooga for a Key Industrial Account Engineer.

Scope of the position includes serving as single point of contact for assigned large local and regional customers. Duties will include reviewing and analyzing customer needs in a wide variety of work environments, developing strategies to optimize customer energy requirements, and ensuring top-notch customer service. May also include providing general engineering support to our other EPB divisions.

The ideal candidate will possess a B.S. in Engineering or equivalent and a minimum of 4-6 years in engineering related areas; PE preferred.
