This position manages the accounting and finance functions for Gibson EMC, a 35,000 member cooperative with approximately $80 million in revenue and more than $118 million in electric plant.

Specifically, the VP of Accounting and Finance manages Gibson EMC s accounting processes and procedures as required by regulatory agencies; maintains the general ledger; provides financial reports for local, state and federal agencies; ensures timely payment of the cooperative s accounts payables; ensures accurate monthly billing to members; maintains accurate accounting of members accounts; prepares bi-monthly payroll; conducts bi-annual inventory; and ensures appropriate resolution of any issues which may be identified by external auditors. This position prepares financial reports and analyses for the Board of Trustees, President and CEO, and regulatory agencies; oversees the development and integration of the annual budget; reviews the budget monthly to ensure financial objectives are met, and identifies and resolves major variances. This position also monitors Gibson EMC s financial position to ensure the most effective utilization of assets; recommends actions to accomplish the cooperative s financial objectives; and manages cash flow to maximize use of the cooperative s funds, and ensure financial resources are available.

Qualified candidates will possess a CPA and have at least five years of accounting and finance experience, with at least three years of supervisory experience. Accounting and finance experience in a utility setting, with a strong knowledge of RUS, TVA and FASB specifications and SEDC software, is preferred. Candidates must have the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of highly sensitive information and meet deadlines under pressure. Candidates also must be able to effectively communicate and contribute to the management team.

(02/25/10) Class B Single and Three Phase Meterman — Johnson City Power Board has an opening for a Class B Single and Three Phase Meterman. Position will perform the following duties and any other duties assigned by supervisor.

  • Tests, calibrates and repairs kWh meters.
  • Tests CTs (current transformers) and PTs (potential transformers for accuracy.
  • Performs single and three phase voltage and current checks on system.
  • Maintains records of meter tests.
  • Prepares monthly reports of meters tested.
  • Test water heaters.
  • Read commercial meters monthly.
  • Perform substation metering inspections and write reports to be submitted to Supervisor of Metering.
  • Perform duties of meter reader and order worker when directed by supervisor.
  • Install and program metering equipment for residential, commercial and industrial consumers.
  • Perform duties of apprentice meterman as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Maintain any vehicle assigned to them.
  • Answer telephone during power outages as required.
  • Be available for after hours problem repairs, outages and scheduled work which would include working the fair share of all necessary overtime.
  • Must maintain valid TN driver s license.

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Technical certification in watt-hour metering (usually obtained from a correspondence school and requiring two years to complete) is mandatory. Four years prior experience required. Approximately 50% of this position is performed outside in varying weather conditions. The other 50% is performed in a normal office environment.
