Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation (JPEC). The ideal candidate must have a high-school diploma or a GED. Must have documentation of successful completion of an accredited climbing program. Must be able to advance to JPEC’s Apprentice Line Technician program after completion of six months of service from hire date. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be able to obtain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six months of hire date. Must live within a 30-minute drive to JPEC. Must have a good aptitude for math and science. Must have the physical ability for extended periods of standing, walking, lifting, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and be able to communicate via radio and telephone with JPEC personnel. Must be able to carry out instructions, meet work schedules and exchange work information as necessary to expedite workflow. Must be able to deal with people under difficult circumstances. Must be able to work in severe weather conditions, extreme heat and cold. Must be able to travel, work overtime when necessary, and participate in designated training programs. Candidate may be asked to demonstrate their ability to climb poles and perform work off hooks in addition to performing aerial lift work. Must be reliable in terms of attendance and punctuality.
