The City of Alcoa (TN) Electric Department is seeking a career-minded individual for the position of Electric Engineering Assistant I. This is an entry-level engineering position that focuses on gathering and analyzing information related to the electric distribution system; while assisting professional and higher-grade assistant engineers. The successful applicant will be expected to issue work orders for the repair of damaged lines or poles, assist in determining new line extensions and improvements in the electric distribution system.

Applicants for this position shall have a high-school diploma or GED. Preferred education includes a degree in Electrical Technology or Engineering; or have 2 years of college-level course work in electricity or closely related field; or three years’ experience as an engineering assistant, lineman or electrical serviceman of a utility or engineering firm. Strong interpersonal, communications, and customer service skills are required. This position will be required to work in a rotating on call status and will be subject to call in during widespread outages.

The City of Alcoa offers a competitive benefit package after 90 days of employment. Starting salary range $34,779.83 – $38,390.42 DOE. A complete job description can be found on our website.
