Requirements: high-school diploma or equivalent; applicants must have completed an approved and certified four-year apprentice program as an electric lineworker. Lineworker position is subject to adverse weather conditions and hazards associated with working at heights, in precarious positions, with electrical equipment and wires. Lineworker position performs physically demanding work in lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying heavy objects, and climbing power poles and steel towers. DISPATCHER -(3rd Shift) Application Deadline: Full consideration given to applications received by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015. Internal and external applications are now being accepted for the position of full-time Dispatcher through 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015. This position will be scheduled on 3rd shift (10p to 6a) Monday through Wednesday with alternating Thurs/Fri or Sat/Sun shifts (40 hours per week, includes holiday work and occasional overtime). Position is eligible for full-time employment benefits.

The Dispatcher position assists operations, engineering and customer-relations personnel in performing technical work involving radio dispatching and operation of the Electrical, Water/Wastewater and Fiber Optic systems during regular office and non-office hours. The duties for this position include: • Performs radio dispatching for electric line and service crews, water/wastewater service crews, fiber crews and customer service personnel. • Operates electric and water/wastewater SCADA systems, NISC customer database software, Milsoft Outage Management System, AutoCAD and GIS. • Interacts with customers regarding billing, work notifications and trouble reports. • Interacts with electricians and contractors regarding scheduling and system work. • Coordinates outage notification and restoration of electric service, water/wastewater services and fiber services. • Performs minor switching of the electric system. Requires computer proficiency and the ability to become competent with utility software, Microsoft Word and Excel software. Requires communication skills that ensure clear and effective transfer of information to employees and customers. Must be able to acquire knowledge of BGMU policies and knowledge of the BGMU service area. Requires the ability to receive, transmit and carry out complex oral and written instructions; work on short notice at times; stay alert and productive in a solitary work environment; and remain calm during high stress conditions. Minimum requirements: A high school diploma or graduate equivalency. Preferred characteristics: 24 hours of college coursework in an engineering discipline or vocational school training in an engineering or electrical field of study.

SYSTEMS ENGINEER - Starkville, MS, Utilities seeks a Systems Engineer. With a population of 24,000, Starkville is a growing city in north central Mississippi. The department is in the early-deployment phase of AMI for both water and electric with expected completion in the summer of 2016. Under general direction of the manager of Water & Sewer Operations, the Systems Engineer performs responsible field and office civil engineering work and technical level duties in support of the department and division’s engineering and capital improvement projects.

Duties will include but are not limited to: • Designs and prepares engineering plans, specifications and estimates which may include engineering computations, details, profiles, maps, and bid documents for projects including water-distribution systems, sanitary-sewer-collection systems, and coordination with other utilities and infrastructure such as electric power, gas, storm sewer, fiber optic, roadways. • Prepare designs and plans to construct, enlarge, and modify such facilities as water plant, wastewater plant, pumping stations, water mains, sewer lines, and other appurtenances. • Provide technical support to a variety of engineering studies related to planning and design of water and sewer utility projects; research, collect, interpret and record data; prepare maps, graphs, drawings and reports to present study results. • Review progress and/or inspect assigned construction projects for compliance with plans and specifications, including resolving constructability problems and issues and for conformance to city policies, ordinances, resolutions and established engineering practices.

This position will require knowledge of principles and practices of civil engineering, water-distribution systems, sanitary-sewer-collection systems, storm-sewer-collection systems and other utilities such as electric power, gas and fiber optic; civil-construction techniques including concrete formwork and flatwork, pipe installation, establishment of permanent vegetation; Utility design and construction including rehabilitation and maintenance methods.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering. Proficiency in Computer Aided Design civil-engineering software, preferably Autodesk Civil 3D. Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: At least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering functions with emphasis in water and sanitary sewer fields or equivalent required. Successful completion of FE Exam. Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of MS. Experience in Geographic Information System (GIS) including manipulating, analyzing and displaying GIS data to provide land use or other types of municipal information. Understanding and familiarity with preparing studies and plans for water and wastewater plant operations, such as economics of system operation. The engineering associate will work under the direct supervision of the Electric Division systems engineer and will perform complex and exacting technical work of engineering design, construction, maintenance, and repair of systems and facilities in support of departmental activities. May act as a project leader for smaller scale and less-complex engineering projects. Will be responsible for the operation and administration of drafting services and engineering records. This position may also work closely with the systems engineer in the Water & Sewer Division and with the GPS coordinator for the department.

Duties will include but are not limited to: 1. Assists in designing project plans and specifications, maintains system maps, and updates apparatus databases. 2. Produces drawings and material lists for electric-facility construction and maintenance; performs all recordkeeping associated with electric-power-system construction and maintenance activities. 3. Performs field inspections of electric facilities to determine adherence of construction activities to specifications. Will also inspect power system facilities for maintenance needs and adherence to NESC. 4. Assist with maintaining traffic signals. 5. Responds to emergency situations, which may include assisting linemen in repairing or restarting circuits, cleaning debris from electric right-of -ways and performing other duties as directed. 6. Must be available for duties as may be required on nights and weekends.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Associate’s degree or a minimum of two years college training in engineering or technically related field. A combination of equivalent education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge and abilities may be considered. Must be proficient in the use of Auto-Cad or comparable computer related drafting programs. Must have strong computer and software skills to include Word and Excel and the ability to interpret computerized data. Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License and acceptable MVR.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Completion of associates or bachelor’s degree in engineering or technically related field. Completion of TVPPA staking school(s). Minimum of three (3) years’ work experience in an engineering environment in an electric-utility setting. Demonstrated proficiency in staking and the development of job orders and work plans for utility projects. Salary: Based on the level of qualifications and experience and to establish a progression program to allow retention in the position. Rates will be from grade 11 (range of $33,497 to $44,580) up to a maximum of grade 12 (range $36,847 to $49,038).
