Job Overview: To ensure the accuracy of data that is required for GIS, to reconcile discrepancies between difference sources of data and to promote a smooth and coordinated flow of department engineering material within the department and with other departments. • Update and makescorrections to the GIS system to reflect any changes made to the electrical system relating to new construction, line conversions, maintenance programs, switching operations, phase changes, etc., to ensure an accurate and current representation of the electrical system • Perform all work required of the GIS system area to ensure that information relating to the service order and work order processes are properly entered into the GIS system and accounting and information systems • Update and make changes to the GIS system to reflect accurate and current geographical and land-base information including, but not limited to, highways, roads, lakes, rivers, creeks, wetlands, city limits, town limits, district lines, tax districts, service territories, easements, board districts, and property lines • Produce maps, diagrams, drawings, and reports as needed using the GIS, AutoCAD software, database software, and associated plotters, printers or copiers • Regularly monitor the mapping system for accuracy • Ensure the quality of the “as-built” information entered into the GIS.

This position reports to the STEMC Brownsville Office, but is not required to reside in Brownsville. Qualified candidates should have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, EIT certification, and minimum 2 years’ experience with electric utilities. Job tasks include work with all components typically found in an electric cooperative distribution system: voltage regulators, capacitor banks (both line and substation grade), reclosers, system coordination of fuses, reclosers and substation relays, relay programming, relay testing, SCADA programming, material bidding and procurement, and reading/interpreting wiring diagrams. Excellent troubleshooting and project management skills required. Work environment will be primarily outside with some inside work required.
