We are a 62,000-member distribution cooperative serving parts of eight counties. We have over 5,700 miles of line and 37 substations. Candidate should possess a BS degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems Option and EIT/FE certification from an ABET accredited program. Practical experience of 2-5 years in an electric utility is highly desirable. Candidate must possess high technical skills, problem-solving skills, written and verbal communication skills, and project-management skills. He/she must have working knowledge of an electrical utility, including system-protection schemes, symmetrical components, safety regulations and construction projects. Candidate should possess the ability to understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. A background in utility-modeling software, such as MilSoft WindMil, is desired. Candidate must be proficient in the use of personal computers and software including Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. SUBSTATION TECHNICIAN - Lenoir City Utilities Board (LCUB) is seeking a Substation Technician. The desired candidate must have a high-school diploma or GED certificate, 2-year associate degree (preferred) and completion of four-year accredited substation maintenance program.

Job Duties: Provide assistance in construction of substations and installation of equipment, read, reasonably comprehend, and logically follow the schematics and wiring diagrams for typical substation devices and equipment which includes, but may not be limited to, transformers, circuit breakers, relay panels, regulators, metering terminals, and SCADA equipment for the purpose of troubleshooting faults, repair, or installation of these devices; maintain maintenance and test records related to substations, routine maintenance of all types of substation equipment, install and maintain SCADA system, operate and maintain all equipment used in the installation, maintenance, testing, and operation of substation equipment; perform preventative maintenance, internal inspections and adjustments on substation equipment; and process test records and maintain necessary stock of repair and replacement parts.

JOURNEYMAN LINEMAN - The Lenoir City Utilities Board, Lenoir City, TN, is accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the position of Journeyman Lineman. LCUB serves 60,000 electric customers located in Loudon, Knox, Roane and Anderson counties. Positions in this class perform skilled electrical work in the construction, maintenance, installation, and repair of overhead and underground electric-distribution/transmission systems of the municipally-owned electric-distribution system in accordance with standard procedures.

Knowledge of: Principles, practices, methods, tools, equipment, and materials used in electric-installation/repair work and in the construction and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission lines. Principles of electrical theory. Safety practices, laws, codes, and regulations related to low and high voltage electric wires. First-aid principles and techniques including resuscitation methods.

Ability to: Perform electrical installation and repair work on electrical-distribution/transmission lines. Construct and maintain electrical-distribution/transmission lines. Perform work based on electrical plans and detailed drawings. Maintain standby status in the event of an emergency. Follow complex oral instructions. Maintain good public relations. DISTRIBUTION ENGINEER II - Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation (JPEC) is seeking a Distribution Engineer II. The desired candidate must have a minimum of 3 years related past experience, bachelor’s degree in Engineering (electrical or mechanical) from an ABET-accredited college or university.

Other requirements: proficiency in computer software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), engineering analysis software and customer information systems. Must have or acquire a thorough understanding of electric-power distribution design, construction, operations and SCADA systems. Must have or acquire a thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code, JPEC rates, rules, and regulations, and PSC rules and regulations. Must have the ability to develop and coordinate activities in the Engineering department for project implementation and to research codes and compliance requirements. Must have the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workloads, and complete assigned projects on time and within budget limits. Must be able to analyze and define problems using sound, logical judgment. Must possess good planning, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to supervise and direct the work of others. Must be able to work under pressure. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning, developing, and coordinating the implementation of the continuing property records and construction specifications. Preparing and submitting various reports and proposals to the PSC. Preparing final engineering drawings and staking for subdivision layouts, state highway jobs, mapping records, and other projects as assigned. Oversee the planning, preparation, implementation, and maintenance of Joint Use agreements and documentation. Assist with RUS work plans, amendments, and documentation. Work with operations supervisors, crews and contractors (may require time in the field to oversee projects). Assist in the planning, preparation, implementation, and maintenance of various distribution construction contracts. Work with various tools, such as outage management systems, SCADA, engineering analysis software, and different mapping systems. Be in the “on-call” rotation as a supervisor. Work with JPEC members when they have questions or concerns (this may require face-to-face meetings with the member).
