The Tennessee Municipal Electric Power Association (TMEPA) has named Brian Solsbee its new executive director.

A former general manager at Etowah, TN, Utilities, Solsbee is scheduled to succeed Mike Vinson, who plans to retire at the end of July.

Solsbee, an Etowah native, holds an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy and a graduate degree in engineering management from the University of Tennessee. He served five years in the Air Force following his graduation from the Academy, then worked another five years at Johnson Controls and Knoxville, TN, UB. He joined Etowah Utilities in 2006 and left in 2013 for a job with TVA.

With his retirement, Vinson would conclude a career of more than 46 years in the electric-utility industry, including the last 14 as TMEPA’s executive director.
