Mountain Electric Cooperative, Inc. seeks an individual for the position of Director of Engineering and Operations in Mountain City, Tenn. The cooperative is located in Northeast Tennessee and Northwest North Carolina and serves 34,000 members over 2,300 miles of distribution lines. Overall responsibilities consist of the management of the cooperative’s engineering and operations activities. Responsibilities include distribution and substation planning, staffing, budgeting, training, analyzing and developing distribution and operation systems to maximize efficiency and resolve operational issues, preparing engineering economic studies, providing technical recommendations to other departments and providing emergency operations assistance. Experience in distribution planning and system operation required. Applicant should have thorough knowledge of system engineering analysis methods, RUS construction specifications, and distribution operations procedures. Excellent technical, interpersonal and communication skills required.
Candidate must have a BS degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university and a Tennessee PE license. Applicants should have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in electric-utility engineering and operations and a minimum of five years’ experience in a supervisory or management capacity.
