Primary Responsibility: Manage/monitor/coordinate/direct as appropriate all aspects of marketing, sales, product demonstrations, and installations for the Orbit Meter Data Management (MDM) System and any peripheral products such as the Orbit customer portal to a national audience.  This will be accomplished through several channels including various trade shows, conferences, or workshops relative to CSA’s business ventures.  Position will maintain open communications with CSA’s customers and interested third-party companies that will co-market the products. Communicate needs for additional development to the appropriate technical staff. Assist with the design and creation of various marketing related documents for the MDM product line. Maintain adequate records for invoicing of services, tracking of customizations, and scheduling of projects.

This will be accomplished through several channels including various trade shows, conferences, or workshops relative to CSA’s business ventures.  Position will maintain open communications with CSA’s customers and interested third-party companies that will co-market the products. Communicate needs for additional development to the appropriate technical staff. Assist with the design and creation of various marketing related documents for the UtiliSuite product line.  Maintain adequate records for invoicing of services, tracking of customizations, and scheduling of projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage marketing/sales of CSA’s MDM/UtiliSuite products, to include documentation, demonstrations, quotations, communications, deployment and scheduling.
  • Promote/exhibit professionalism at all times.
  • Create a written plan for the promotion/sales of the primary/secondary products with estimated costs.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of capabilities for interfaces with all AMI, CIS and other systems interfaced to the MDM and UtiliSuite product lines.
  • Lead team engaged in preparing proposals, requests for proposal, requests for information and other items related to the pricing of CSA’s MDM and UtiliSuite products.
  • Provide, upon request, lists of sales in the pipeline with estimated revenue and best-guess percentage chance of closure.
  • Conduct marketing visits (either in person, on the phone or through other technology) to both CSA member and non-member utilities to market MDM and UtiliSuite products.
  • Organize/coordinate/plan/schedule/participate as needed in product demonstrations. Provide/coordinate installation and training for the MDM product and coordinate installation, training and technical support for the UtiliSuite product line.
  • Conduct marketing and follow-up visits (either in person, on the phone or through other technology) to CSA utilities to ensure that the maximum number of products and services are being utilized by the utility.
  • Coordinate with third-party companies – specifically AMI companies – for co-marketing opportunities.
  • Represents the association at public, social, and business gatherings.
  • Attend conferences, seminars, trade shows, meetings, etc. in order to develop the personal contacts with utility personnel that are essential in the successful marketing of all CSA services.
  • Follow up on leads generated through other CSA marketing efforts.
  • Inform chief business development officer/chief technology officer/chief member services officer or the appropriate manager of any requests from members for system enhancements or development of new systems.
  • Always seek to be INNOVATIVE in the development of new ideas and ways to market CSA services.
  • Remain knowledgeable/up-to-date on changes and developments within the association and utility industry.
  • Keep management informed of all activity, including timely preparation of reports.
  • Track time associated with customizations, enhancements, and projects for billing purposes.
  • Provide/maintain product documentation as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in computer technology or business information systems, or an associate degree with at least 5 years of experience in a technical field. Must have experience in a leadership position and have shown good interpersonal communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with people.  This position requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.  Must be able to organize/prepare/make presentations to multiple levels of audiences. Working knowledge of all services currently being offered.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read/analyze/interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

TRAVEL: This position may require a significant amount of travel.  The employee must be able to provide their own vehicle when necessary for travel.  All business-related travel expenses will be reimbursed to the employee at the then-current IRS rate.
