Not all superheroes wear capes; some wear hardhats. A Mountain Electric Cooperative line crew recently rescued a woman trapped in her vehicle after a mudslide and falling tree forced it off the road into rushing floodwaters following days of torrential rain. Swift water carried her vehicle approximately 300 yards before it became lodged on a rock. Mountain EC, Mountain City, Tenn.,

Linemen Rick Courtner and Cody Bryant rushed to the scene, quickly put on their safety gear and stretched the arm of their bucket truck over the vehicle. As a crowd of onlookers watched from the bank of the swollen creek, the linemen were able to help the frightened woman into the bucket and onto solid ground.

“Obviously, I’m very proud of our guys – and girls – at MEC,” said General Manager Joe Thacker.
