So as to ensure compliance with Tennessee tax regulations, TVPPA has begun charging sales tax on materials it sells – except for those materials received in exchange for membership dues.

The change took effect Jan. 1, 2019, and applies only to TVPPA members in the state of Tennessee that are not tax-exempt, or whose sales-tax exemption letter is not on file with the TVPPA Accounting department.

“The price of TVPPA materials will not change at this time,” said TVPPA Executive Vice President Betsey Kirk McCall. “While the tax is a nominal addition, we wanted to make our members aware of this change for planning purposes, as we understand that it comes in the middle of their fiscal year.”

TVPPA will work diligently to ensure that its online purchasing sites and in-house invoicing systems reflect tax exemption where appropriate. So that TVPPA might accurately reflect members’ taxable status, those members with tax-exempt status should provide TVPPA’s Accounting department with sales-tax-exemption letters. Those letters may be e-mailed to accounting@tvppa.com or mailed to TVPPA addressed as “Attn: Accounting.”
