The TVPPA Board of Directors took a number of actions in its final quarterly meeting of 2019, including a vote to approve TVPPA’s 2020 budget.

Meeting Dec. 9 in Chattanooga, the board also:

• Approved two requests from the TVPPA Rates & Pricing Committee; one changed the committee’s mission statement to read “ … to facilitate negotiations and develop local power company-led solutions in cooperation with TVA and in response to TVPPA members’ needs, related to wholesale pricing.” The board also approved an R&P request to gather data from member utilities – with their permission – for analysis on an aggregate level. The data analysis should enable the committee to be more effective in its ongoing work with TVA. TVPPA will contact members with more information about the data analysis program in the next month.

• Approved two requests from the TVPPA Research & Development Committee, each of which involves joining EPRI studies; a distribution safety research study ($72,274) and voltage diagnostic tool advancement study ($25,000).

• Approved the Government Relations Advisory Group’s 2020 Government Relations Plan.

• Ratified the nomination of Greg Fay, the general manager at Clinton, Tenn., UB, to serve on the Economic Development Advisory Group. TVPPA Chairman David Wade also appointed Mike Bolin of Knoxville UB to serve on the Solar Advisory Group and Philip Lim of Murfreesboro, Tenn., ED to serve on the Operations Coordination Advisory Group. Wade also reappointed all existing committee and advisory group chairs.

Finally, the board also heard from TVPPA President & CEO Doug Peters, who discussed the prospect of a January offsite session dedicated to TVPPA’s 2020 strategic plan.
