The latest episode of the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) Public Power Conversations with Joy Ditto features TVPPA Executive Vice President of Member Services & Strategic Relations Danette Scudder along with Amy Zubaly, executive director of the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA). The two public power industry veterans spoke on the topic of mutual aid and emergency response.

Scudder, whose introduction to mutual aid over a decade ago was described by APPA CEO Joy Ditto as “trial by ice storm,” addressed the challenges and logistics – including the many variables – that play into mutual aid determinations. While Zubaly highlighted the need for clear and timely communication with energy consumers during situations requiring mutual aid to restore power, Scudder reminded viewers of the importance of reviewing and updating disaster recovery plans including updating contact information for key personnel and contacts within your mutual aid network.
