Cynthia Cooper, who led the effort to expose the epic WorldCom fraud in 2002, is scheduled to present at the 2019 TVPPA Accounting & Finance Conference.
“To say that Cynthia’s story is remarkable would be an understatement,” said TVPPA Conferences & Meetings Director Diana Bryant. “We’re thrilled to be able to bring her to A&F for an ethics presentation based on experience that very few can claim.”
Cooper was not yet 40 and serving as WorldCom’s vice president of internal audit when, in 2002, she and her team worked nights – and often in secret – to expose that company’s $3.8 billion fraud. It was, at the time, the biggest corporate fraud in history.
Today, Cooper is CEO of CooperGroup LLC, her management consulting firm. CooperGroup’s client list includes Dell, PepsiCo, Raytheon, Walmart, AT&T and public-sector entities including the FBI, the U.S. Department of Interior and the U.S. Department of Labor.
The 2019 TVPPA Accounting & Finance Conference is set for Oct. 23-25 at the Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin, Tenn. Registration is open at www.tvppa.com’s Conferences page.
