As the COVID-19 pandemic continues and many states extend states of emergency related to the health crisis, TVPPA continues seeking ways to keep its members connected, engaged, and educated by offering new hybrid and remote learning and conference experiences while continuing to offer fully in-person opportunities when possible.

Heading into the fall conference season, the TVPPA Conferences & Events team will host three remote conferences: the Safety & Security Conference will be held September 23-24; the Accounting & Finance Conference is scheduled for October 21-22, and the Engineering, Operations & Technology Conference will be held on November 4-5. Currently, all conferences and meetings planned for 2021 will be hybrid events, offering both in-person and remote experiences.

“We plan to offer the same high-caliber, dynamic experience of speakers with deep know-how in their areas of expertise and outstanding content to our attendees in our remote conferences and meetings that we do with our in-person events,” says Diana Bryant, director of conferences and events.

TVPPA member employees seeking their Certified Power Executive Certificate will have the opportunity to take the Conflict Mediation course remotely, on September 19. Other remote learning opportunities coming up this fall include Compensation & Benefits (required for TVPPA’s HR certification) on September 24-25 and Utility Accounts Classifications & Principles, the first required course for TVPPA’s Accounting certificate, on September 29. Plus, TVPPA’s Education and Training department has added a new stand-alone course entitled Bankruptcy Fundamentals for Utilities which will be offered on September 30.

“We want to encourage our members to keep moving forward with work toward certification in their areas of expertise. Our team has worked hard to create a remote learning experience that we feel compares favorably to our in-person classes. Our instructors continue perfecting their techniques and getting better and better,” said Kim Culpepper, director of education & training.

The list of fall courses continues in October with a three-day, three-class series devoted to the Customer Service Certification process. Selling Utility Services will be held October 5; Nonverbal Communication will be held October 6; and the ABCs of Electrical Systems will be taught on October 7.
