Beginning on December 15, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration will host a series of public virtual listening sessions to share details about five new broadband grant programs funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. In other news related to broadband grants, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced that the Rural Utilities Rural eConnectivity (ReConnect) program is accepting grant applications through Februrary 22, 2022. This program offers loans, grants and loan/grant combinations to help facilitate broadband deployment in rural areas.
Additionally, the Department of Energy announced that it will award up to $2.5 million in its Inclusive Energy Innovation Prize to groups and organizations that support entrepreneurship and innovation in communities that have been historically underserved in climate and energy technology funding. The application deadline for Phase one funding is Februray 25, 2022.
The Federal Highway Administration within the Department of Transportation seeks comment as they develop guidance on two new electric vehicle charging station programs funded by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
