Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman

Southwest Tennessee EMC is looking for three (3) Apprentice/Journeyman Lineman to work from our Jackson District office. 

These positions are being offered INTERNALLY and EXTERNALLY. Will perform line construction and maintenance to provide electricity to electrical consumers. Journeyman Lineman must have completed a recognized apprentice program such as SELCAT or TVPPA. Must have knowledge and experience regarding distribution and line work and electrical equipment and apparatus required. Transmission experience is helpful but not required. Knowledge of Rural Utility Service construction is helpful. Apprentice Lineman applicants must be able to pass the NJATC Apprentice Aptitude Test if they have not already completed a significant amount of another equivalent apprenticeship program. Must have a valid Class A CDL with a current health card. High school diploma or equivalent required. Must reside with 30 minutes driving time of Southwest Tennessee EMC’s assigned office or be willing to relocate. Required to perform standby duty outside of normal business hours. Subject to irregular hours during emergencies. 

Equipment Requirements: Various line tools, heavy equipment including vehicles. 

Working Conditions: Almost constantly work outside. Frequently works under inclement weather conditions. Four-day, 10 hour a day work schedule. Overtime, as necessary.
