Meter Technician
Job Summary
Plateau Electric Cooperative is accepting resumes through 4:00 p.m., Monday, June 22, 2026, from qualified candidates for the position of Meter Technician. The Meter Technician shall be responsible for the Cooperative’s metering program including the design, installation, and testing of single and three phase metering equipment.

Job Description
Responsibilities and Duties
- Install, inspect, test, calibrate, maintain, and replace single and three phase current transformers (CTs), potential transformers (PTs), and associated metering equipment.
- Oversees installation of single and three phase metering packages by line crews.
- Maintains and troubleshoots single and three phase metering installations.
- Maintains meter inventory for stock, numbers and prepares new meters for installation.
- Maintains meter testing program.
- Reads power route.
- Assists with high bill complaints.
- Assists in troubleshooting “no reads” on metering software.
- Reviews and monitors computer reports for abnormal readings and reviews monthly power route readings for accuracy.
- Requires predictable and reliable attendance during the normal work week and available for after-hours duties. Must be willing to and capable of helping outside crew in emergency situations.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions and respond to after-hours calls when needed.
- Performs other duties as designated by the Director of Engineering
Minimum Essential Qualifications
- Must complete TVPPA/MidSouth Electrical Metering Association Electric Metering Program.
- Must attend training and seminars to maintain proficiency in field.
- Must be proficient in mathematics with a basic understanding of trigonometry.
- Must have basic technical knowledge regarding electronics, electrical theory, mechanics, and be able to read, draw and interpret electrical schematics.
- Must have good computer skills.
- Must have legible handwriting and have strong organizational and time management skills.
- Must be proficient at problem solving.
• Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 75 pounds. Ability to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, and work in confined spaces or elevated locations. - Must have experience working with low voltage electrical systems.
- Knowledge of AMI/AMR systems and meter data management software. Knowledge of CT/PT-rated services and commercial/industrial metering.
- Must be able to distinguish between color-coded electrical wiring and components to safely preform assigned duties.
- Must have, or obtain within a reasonable time, a Class B Commercial Driver’s License Certificate.
