The Valley in Focus

TVPPA’s inaugural photo contest captures the people, places and work that bring public power to life.

TVPPA Magazine is excited to share the winning photographs from our first photo contest.

More than a dozen TVPPA member systems submitted entries to our inaugural photo contest, showcasing the people, communities and landscapes that make public power in the Tennessee Valley unique.

Participants submitted photographs in four categories:

• People in Action – showcasing local power company (LPC) employees at work

• Powering the Community – highlighting LPC community service efforts

• Infrastructure – featuring electric distribution infrastructure

• Valley Landscape – capturing the beauty of the Tennessee Valley

A panel of TVPPA staff judges selected a winner and runner-up in each category. Overall award winners were then chosen from among the four category winners, while runners-up received Honorable Mention recognition.

“Our members do incredible work every day, and we wanted to create a collection of images that reflects both the people behind public power and the communities they proudly serve. This contest gave us a chance to celebrate their stories while building a visual library that helps us share the impact of local public power across the Tennessee Valley,” said Dawn Sloan-Downes, Manager, Publications & Content, TVPPA.
