Position: Industrial Electrician

About the Role:

Performs journey-level maintenance and repair of electrical equipment associated with wastewater and water storage, transportation, and treatment. Knowledge of fundamentals of electricity including their application to the operation of electrical circuits; applicable tools and equipment of the trade; industrial safety practices and procedures; Duties may include troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment, performing preventative maintenance, designing, and building control systems and interfaces, fabricating and maintaining a variety of electrical systems. Designs, builds, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates and cleans a wide variety of instrumentation and electrical equipment which includes variable frequency drives, AC/DC motor starters and controls, switch gears, circuit breakers, transformers, interior/exterior lighting, sump pumps, level control systems, conveyor systems, timing relays, flow meters and controllers. All applicable safety programs must be adhered to including but not limited to lock out tag out (LOTO), Confined Space, Arc Flash, Respiratory Protection Program, Risk Management Program, and Fall Protection.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to bend, stoop, lift and work where conditions are cramped, and head space is limited. Must be able to work on structures up to 200 feet high. Must be able to climb steps and work from ladders. Works outside most of the time, from KUB vehicle, in customer facilities, and in various weather conditions. May be required to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and work extended hours during storm or emergency situations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the field of mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Possesses high degree of mechanical, basic electrical, and problem-solving aptitude as well as ability to read and utilize schematics, diagrams, and operations/maintenance manuals
  • Willingness to work around potable water, hazardous chemicals, and wastewater.
  • Must have working knowledge of equipment, tools, and instruments used to perform assigned tasks and other duties as well as PC skills (developing or working in documents in Word or Excel Programs (Microsoft Office Products), working in KUB’s Maximo asset management system for work order management, and navigating electronic files for procedures)
  • Valid Driver’s License with ability to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License

Preferred Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of specialized industrial training in utility facility operations and repairs with experience in installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities.
  • Strong background in the maintenance of equipment found in the treatment plants or industrial environments (i.e., pumps, motors, valves, fans, gearboxes, etc.) and ability to be quickly familiarized with performing preventive maintenance tasks required to keep equipment running with minimal breakdowns.
